Bill Yuill

Bill Yuill is the Chairman and CEO of The Monarch Corporation, a Canadian private equity company. The Monarch Corporation is the parent company of Monarch Ventures Inc. and Consolidated Sports Holding Ltd.

He was previously Chairman and CEO of Monarch Communications Inc., the parent Company of Monarch Broadcasting Ltd. and Monarch Cablesystems Ltd.

Bill is currently a Director of Shaw Communications Inc. and the Chairman of their Human Resources and Compensation Committee. He is also a Director of the Western Investment Company of Canada Ltd. (2016), a Trustee of the St. Andrew’s College Foundation (2001) and a Governor of the Western Hockey League (1989). He served as a Director of the Western Financial Group from 2004 to 2011.

Bill is currently the Chairman of the Yuill Family Foundation. He was a member of the Alberta Economic Development Authority, a past Director of the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede and the past Chairman of the Medicine Hat College Foundation.

Bill has received numerous awards, including the Milner Fenerty Pinnacle Award (1995), the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal (2003) and the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal (2013). He also received an Honourary Doctor of Laws from the University of Lethbridge (2006) and the Alberta Order of Excellence Award (2016) and an Honorary Degree from the Medicine Hat College (2017). His team also won the champion’s trophy in the wild cow.

He is the third generation of his family to reside in Medicine Hat. Bill attended public schools in Medicine Hat, at St. Andrew’s College in Aurora, Ontario and at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. 


S.P. (Pat) Shouldice (1935 – 2010)

Pat was a proud native Calgarian. He was a graduate of Central High School and went on to graduate from Oklahoma University with a B.Science in Petroleum Engineering.

Pat's entrepreneurial spirit inspired him to build NOWSCO (Nitrogen Oil Well Service Company) in 1962, after leaving Stanolind Oil & Gas. Pat's 33 years as CEO of NOWSCO established him as a highly respected professional within the oil and gas industry and a recipient of numerous awards of recognition. Often sought after for his accomplishments, reputation, personal and professional integrity, Pat served as a board member for many oil and gas service companies, including Collicutt Hanover, Mullen Transportation, NQL Energy Services, United Industrial Services, and Gardner Exploration.

Pat, "THE BIG GUY" was elected into the Petroleum Hall of Fame (also a Founding Director) in 1994 for having developed a new technique for servicing oil wells. He was a finalist for Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year in 1996. He was the Chairman of the 42nd Oilman's Golf Tournament in 1992 and a Director of the Oilman's for several years. An avid sports fan, Pat followed the Calgary Stampeders his entire life. He was a member of the Earl Grey Golf & Country Club, Camelback Golf Course (Phoenix, Arizona) and the Calgary Petroleum Club.

A kind and generous man, Pat gave back to the Calgary community by donating to numerous causes and charities including Stars Ambulance, Fort Calgary, Alberta Children's Hospital and the Cardiology Division, Foothills Medical Centre, Alberta Health Services. Pat Shouldice will be remembered as a "Trail Blazer." He did it all when nobody else knew how to do it. A renowned storyteller, who loved to laugh, this one-of-a-kind proud Irishman.

 


Ross Glen

Ross attended Western Canada High School and is a proud native Calgarian. He grew up in Scarboro and attended Sunalta Elementary school and Western Canada High School. Since early childhood he loved sports and became an avid Stampeder’s fan, when the team started playing at Mewata Stadium. Ross has not missed many games since then. Ross also loves hockey and was a hockey coach in his early twenties. Ross’s first job was delivering papers. Ross started his career servicing and then selling Underwood and Olivetti typewriters. 


RGO Office Products began operating in 1966 with three people and has since grown to a staff of over 275 employees in Calgary, Edmonton and Canmore. From the beginning, RGO has continued to diversify and is now the largest company of its kind in Canada. From inception, RGO has strived to be a “one stop shopping centre” serving Albertans; selling and servicing all products with a full complement of value­added services. Primary product groups are office, hospitality, and institutional furniture; the latest technology in office equipment and a full range of residential and commercial window coverings and flooring. RGO is a privately held company that has an interest in real estate holdings and vertically compatible companies. 

RGO Office Products has made significant contributions to the Calgary Performing Arts, the University of Calgary, Mount Royal University, SAIT, Bow Valley College, Calgary Junior Achievement, the Calgary Zoo, the City of Calgary, Heritage Park, the Humane Society, Resolve Campaign and many more local charities. Mr. Glen has a strong commitment to the City, Province and Country that he proudly calls “home”. 

Mr. Glen is currently on the Chairman of Bow Valley College’s “Quest for Best Campaign”. He has been involved with the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, on the Board of Directors, the Calgary Stampeders and a Director for the Willow Park Classic. He is also a member of the Alberta Economic Development Board and WPO. He maintains a high profile in the community personally, and as President of RGO Office Products. 

When Ross is not working, he enjoys a lot of golf in the summer. He is a very committed Calgary Flames and Calgary Stampeders fan and enjoys almost every single game in his executive suites.

He has been married for over 45 years to his wife Shirley. He has two grown daughters, Cathy & Debbie and five grandchildren.


Mac Van Wielingen

Mac Van Wielingen provides leadership support for ARC Financial with a focus on strategy, corporate development and investment decision-making.  Mac was a founder of ARC Financial in 1989 and ARC Resources Ltd. in 1996. 

ARC Financial is a leading private equity investment management company focused on the oil and gas sector in Canada with currently approximately $5 billion of capital under management.

Mac is also a founder, director and former Chair of ARC Resources Ltd., one of Canada’s largest conventional oil and gas companies with current daily production of approximately 110,000 barrels of oil equivalent and total market capitalization of approximately $8 billion. 

Mac is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alberta Investment Management Corporation, a provincial crown corporation responsible for managing approximately $90 billion on behalf of public sector pension, endowment and special purpose funds.   

Mac is a past and current director of numerous other companies within the oil and gas sector, and is active in various capacities in the community and the not-for-profit sector.   

Mac is also President of Viewpoint Capital Corporation, a private family-owned investment company, and President of Viewpoint Foundation, a private charitable foundation. 

As a co-founder and Chair of the Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership in Business (CCAL), Mac is actively involved at the University of Calgary.  CCAL's mission is to support the introduction of advanced understandings of business leadership into business education, with a focus on performance and ethics.

Mac has a passionate interest in leadership, organizational culture and communication which has grown from 30 years of successful entrepreneurship and corporate executive leadership. These interests drive his involvement in writing and speaking on related themes.

In 2015, Mac received the C-Suite Executive Leadership Award for Chairman of the Year, ARC Resources Ltd. from Alberta Oil.  In June 2014, he became an Adjunct Professor at Haskayne School of Business and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Calgary.  Also in 2014, Mac received the Distinguished Business Leadership Award from the Haskayne School of Business, and the Calgary Chamber of Commerce.  In 2013, Mac was the recipient of the Calgary Ivey Leadership Award, and in 2011 he won the Prairies Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.

Mac is an honours graduate of the Ivey School of Business in finance and has also studied post graduate economics at Harvard University.
