Mike has been a founder or early-stage principal investor & Director of companies in the: energy; B2B software; medical devices; financial services; and property development sectors. Past initiatives include: Engage Energy, sold to Duke Energy in 2002; Peyto Exploration & Development, now in its third decade; Solium Capital, sold in 2019 to Morgan Stanley; and Cority, sold to Thomo Bravo in 2019.

Current business initiatives include: JEMM Properties, a Calgary based property developer focussed on densification of Calgary in the urban core; and two tech companies, Leankor and Quantifi.

Current engagements in the ‘not for profit’ sector include: a Board member at STARS; a Partner/Mentor with CDL (Creative Destruction Labs Scale-Up); and a Board member with CAWST.

Mike and his wife Jacquie have two adult children; and they like to travel the world, usually from the vantage point of a tandem bicycle.
